Pezold or Petzold, Christian
Pezold or Petzold, Christian, German organist, teacher, and composer; b. Königstein, 1677; d. Dresden, by June 1733. He settled in Dresden, where he was organist at the court by 1697. In 1703 he became organist at the Sophienkirche, and in 1709 he was made court chamber organist and composer. He also traveled as an organ virtuoso, and made notable appearances in Paris (1714) and Venice (1716). He was the teacher of C.H. Graun. Among his works were several virtuoso keyboard pieces, chamber music, and the cantata Meine Seufzer, meine Klagen.
