Plaichinger, Thila , Austrian soprano; b. Vienna, March 13, 1868; d. there, March 17, 1939. She studied with Gänsbacher at the Vienna Cons. and with Dust-mann and Mampe-Babbnigg. In 1893 she made her operatic debut in Hamburg. She was a principal member of the Strasbourg Opera (1894–1901) and of the Berlin Royal Opera (1901–14). In 1904 and 1910 she was a guest artist at London’s Covent Garden, and also appeared in Munich, Dresden, and Vienna. Among her finest roles were Isolde, Brünnhilde, Ortrud, Venus, and Elektra.
