Pleshakov, Vladimir
Pleshakov, Vladimir , Russian-American pianist; b. Shanghai (of Russian parents), Oct. 4, 1934. He studied piano with Russian teachers in Shanghai, and in 1949 went to Sydney, where he took piano lessons with Alexander Sverjensky. In 1955 he emigrated to the U.S. and studied medicine at the Univ. of Calif., Berkeley (A.B., 1958). Turning back to music, he entered Stanford Univ. in the graduate school of music (Ph.D., 1973). He made a special study of piano manufacture in Beethoven’s era, and performed on reconstructed pianos at his concerts of classical music
