Quinault, Jean-Baptiste-Maurice
Quinault, Jean-Baptiste-Maurice , French sing- er, actor, and composer; b. Verdun, Sept. 9, 1687; d. Gien, Aug. 30, 1745. He was an actor at the Théâtre Francais (1712–28) and at the Comédie Française in Paris until 1734. He set to music about 20 intermèdes, ballets, etc., and also produced a grand ballet, Les Amours des déesses (Paris, Aug. 9, 1729).
