Radicati, Felice Alessandro

Radicati, Felice Alessandro , Italian violinist, teacher, and composer; b. Turin, 1775; d. when thrown from his carriage in Bologna, March 19, 1820. He was a pupil of Pugnani. He was a violinist in the Turin cappella until 1798. After marying Teresa Bertinotti in 1801, the couple toured Germany, Austria, Holland, England, and Portugal. He was again a member of the Turin cappella (1814–15) before settling in Bologna as concertmaster and director of the orch., as maestro di cappella at S. Petronio, and as prof. of violin at the Cons. As a composer of chamber music, he was hailed as the restorer of the string quartet in Italy.
