Ramann, Lina
Ramann, Lina , German pedagogue, writer on music, and composer; b. Mainstockheim, near Kitzingen, June 24, 1833; d. Munich, March 30, 1912. She was a pupil of Franz and Frau Brendel at Leipzig, and also briefly of Liszt. She founded (1858) a music seminary for women teachers in Glückstadt, Holstein, which was moved to Nuremberg (1864) and sold to A. Göllerich (1890). She wrote some piano music but became best known for her Writings on music.
