Reynolds, Anna
Reynolds, Anna , English mezzo-soprano; b. Canterbury, Oct. 4, 1931. She studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and then went to Italy for vocal lessons. She made her operatic debut in Parma in 1960 as Suzuki; subsequently sang in Vicenza (1961), Rome (1964), Spoleto (1966), Trieste (1967), and Venice (1969), and at La Scala in Milan (1973). She made her first appearance in England at Glyndebourne in 1962; sang at Covent Garden in London in 1967; also sang at Bayreuth (1970–76). She made her Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. as Flosshilde in Das Rheingold on Nov. 22, 1968, and returned there in 1975. She also sang widely as a concert artist and recitalist.
