Rodio, Rocco , Italian music theorist and composer; b. Bari, Apulia, c. 1535; d. Naples, after 1615. He was in the service of Sigismund August of Poland, then was active in Naples (from 1575). He publ. Regole di musica Rocco Rodio…tutti i canoni sopra il canto fermo (Naples, 1600). His works include Missarum decem liber primus for 4 to 6 Voices (Rome, 1562), Libro di ricercate a 4 (Naples, 1575), and 17 madrigals for 4 Voices.
