Rudziński, Zbigniew

Rudziński, Zbigniew , Polish composer and teacher; b. Czechowice, Oct. 23, 1935. He went to Warsaw and studied at the State Music School (1949–56), pursued training in English philology at the Univ. (1952–53), and was a composition student of Piotr Perkowski at the State Higher School of Music (1956–60; graduated, 1962). hi 1965–66 he held a French government scholarship to study with Nadia Boulanger in Paris, and later held a Dutch government scholarship in the Netherlands in 1970–71. In 1973 he joined the faculty of the State Higher School of Music (later Academy of Music) in Warsaw as a composition teacher, becoming an assoc. prof. in 1975 and a prof. in 1989. From 1981 to 1984 he was also its vice-rector. In 1981–82 he was president and in 1985–86 general secretary of the Polish Composers’ Union, from which he received its Award in 1991.
