Rúnólfsson, Karl Ottó
Rúnólfsson, Karl Ottó , Icelandic trumpeter, teacher, and composer; b. Reykjavík, Oct. 24, 1900; d. there, Nov. 29, 1970. He studied in Copenhagen (1926–27) and with Mixa and Urbancic at the Reykjavik Coll. of Music (1934–39). He was active with brass bands; played 1st trumpet in the Icelandic Sym. Orch. (1950–55); taught at the Reykjavík Coll. of Music (1939–64). He wrote a set of Icelandic songs for Voice and Orch. (1938), Esja, sym. (1968), choral works on Icelandic themes, Trumpet Sonata, and Violin Sonata.
