Saví, francisco
Savin, FrancisCO, Mexican conductor and composer; b. Mexico City, Nov. 18, 1929. He studied piano in Mexico City with José Velasquez (1944–53) and took conducting lessons with Scherchen and composition with Rodolfo Halffter (1955–56); continued his studies at the Prague Academy of Music, and also had composition lessons with Janeček (1957–59). He was an asst. conductor of the Mexican National Sym. Orch. (1959—62) and principal conductor of the Xalapa Sym. Orch. (1963–67). He was then director of the National Cons. of Music in Mexico City (1967–70), where he led conducting workshops (from 1973).
