Shtogarenko, Andrei (Yakovlevich)
Shtogarenko, Andrei (Yakovlevich), Ukrainian composer and pedagogue; b. Noviye Kaidaki, near Ekaterinoslov, Oct. 15, 1902; d. Kiev, Sept. 16, 1992. He studied with Bogatyrev at the Kharkov Cons. (graduated, 1936). From 1954 to 1968 he was director of the Kiev Cons., where he also was a prof. from 1960. In 1972 he was made a People’s Artist of the U.S.S.R.
