Soler, Antonio (b Olot, nr. Gerona, 1729; d El Escorial, 1783). Sp. composer, organist, and friar. Choirmaster at Lérida. Became monk 1752, entering Escorial monastery as organist 1753. Wrote theoretical treatise 1762. Disciple of D. Scarlatti and wrote 120 keyboard sonatas. Also comp. several quintets for org. and str. qt., church mus., etc.
