Šrom, Karel

Šrom, Karel, Czech composer, writer on music, and administrator; b. Pilsen, Sept. 14, 1904; d. Prague, Oct. 21, 1981. He studied composition with Jan Zelinka and Karel Hába in Prague (1919–25), and also took courses in law at the Univ. (Jur.Dr., 1927). He wrote music criticism (1928–45) and served as head of the music dept. of the Czech Radio (1945–51).
