Tessier, Charles
Tessier, Charles, French lutenist and composer who flourished in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He was chamber musician to Henri IV. His book Premier livre de chansons et airs de cour tant en français qu’en italien et en gascon à 4 et 4 parties was publ. in London (1597), and dedicated to Lady Penelope Riche (Sir Philip Sidney’s “Stella”). His Airs et villanelles français, espagnols, suices et turcqs...à 3, 4, et 5 parties was publ. in Paris (1604; 2nd ed., 1610).
