Trotter, Thomas (Andrew)
Trotter, Thomas (Andrew), English organist; b. Birkenhead, April 4,1957. He studied at the Royal Coll. of Music in London, the Univ. of Cambridge (M.A., 1979), and the Cons. Rueil-Malmaison (1979-81). In 1979 he won both 1stPrize and the Bach Prize at the St. Alban’s International Organ Competition. He made his first appearance at London’s Royal Festival Hall in 1980. In 1982 he became organist at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster, and in 1983 of the City of Birmingham. He made his debut at the London Promenade Concerts in 1986. As a recitalist, Trotter has toured extensively in Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan. His repertoire embraces a broad spectrum of the organ literature, ranging from Bach and Soler to Jehan Alain and Messiaen.
