Uccellini, Marco
Uccellini, MarCO, significant Italian composer; b. c. 1603; d. Forlimpopoli, near Forli, Sept. 10, 1680. He was educated in Assisi, then went to Modena, where he became head of instrumental music at the Este court in 1641 and maestro di cappella at the Cathedral in 1647; subsequently was maestro di cappella at the Farnese court in Parma (1665-80). Most of his works for the stage are not extant, but his concertos are preserved and give evidence of excellent knowledge of technique in writing for the violin and other string instruments.
