Van de Moortel, Arie

Van de Moortel, Arie, Belgian composer and violist; b. Laeken, July 17,1918; d. Brussels, May 1,1976. He studied at the Royal Cons, in Brussels and in Ghent, making his debut as a violist in 1938 in the ‘Trio of the Court of Belgium/’ He taught chamber music at the Brussels Cons. (1946-76), and was director of the music academy at Anderlecht (1957-76).
