Waissel (Waisselius), Matthäus
Waissel (Waisselius), Matthäus German lutenist and intabulator; b. Bartenstein, East Prussia, c. 1537; d. probably in Königsberg, 1602. He matriculated at the Univ. of Königsberg (1561), and received lute training during tours in Germany and Italy (1565-70). He was Rektor of the school in Schippenbeil, East Prussia (1573-74), then parish priest in Langheim, near Rastenburg (1574-87).
