Weber, Margrit
Weber, Margrit, Swiss pianist; b. Ebnat-Kappel, Feb. 24, 1924. She studied organ with Heinrich Funk in Zürich; then received training in piano from Max Egger and Walter Lang at the Cons. there. She was employed as an organist at the age of 15, then devoted herself chiefly to the piano. She toured Europe, presenting many new works; also played in the U.S. and Canada. She was the soloist in the first performances of piano concertos by Martinu and Alexander Tcherepnin, and of Stravinsky’s Movements for Piano and Orch., which she performed under Stravinsky’s direction in N.Y. on Jan. 10, I960.
