Yankelevich, Yuri
Yankelevich, Yuri, Russian violinist and pedagogue; b. Basel, March 7, 1909; d. Moscow, Sept. 12, 1973. He studied with Anisim Berlin in Omsk, Johannes Nalbandian at the Petrograd Cons., and A. Yampolsky at the Moscow Cons, (graduated, 1932), where he subsequently taught, becoming a prof. in 1961. Among his outstanding students were Spivakov and Tretyakov.
