Zedda, Alberto
Zedda, Alberto, Italian conductor and musicologist; b. Milan, Jan. 2, 1928. He studied organ with Galliera, conducting with Votto and Giulini, and composition with Fait at the Milan Cons. In 1956 he made his debut as a conductor in Milan. He subsequently went to the U.S., where he taught at the Cincinnati Coll. of Music (1957-59). Returning to Europe, he conducted at the Deutsche Oper in West Berlin (1961-63); then conducted at the N.Y.C. Opera. With Philip Gossett, he served as co-ed, of the complete works of Rossini. Zedda was artistic director of the Teatro Comunale in Genoa in 1992 and of Milan’s La Scala in 1992-93.
