Ziv, Mikhail, Russian composer; b. Moscow, May 25, 1921. He studied at the Moscow Cons, with Kaba-levsky; graduated in 1947. As a composer, Ziv devoted himself mainly to the musical theater. He wrote the comic operas Son of a King’s Minister (1973) and Gentlemen Artists (1980), several fairy tales for children, 3 syms. (1946, 1960, 1968), 2 sinfoniettas (1958, 1962), 2 string quartets (1945,1955), Piano Quintet (1947), many choruses, piano pieces, and songs, and film music.
