SIDELIGHTS: Terry Beatty has inked Batman for DC Comics for many years, as well as working on projects for Marvel Comics and others. Ray Tate reviewed Batman: Gotham Adventures for Silver Bullet Comic Books online, writing that Beatty, "who seals all the art in his evocative inks, also uses his penciling opportunity to exude mood and atmosphere. He closes in on Bruce Wayne's eyes and tells the reader without words that nothing will stand in this man's way."

Beatty is married to the prolific author Wendi Lee, creator of the "Angela Matelli" mystery series, and the two have collaborated on a number of short stories that have been published in anthologies.

Beatty and Lee also worked together on ElfQuest: Bedtime Stories, a volume for young children that is based on the adult fantasy series. The elves tell the traditional stories, such as Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood, while adding "fun, new twists to the familiar tales," commented Booklist's Sally Estes.
