SIDELIGHTS:

Guy Browning is a writer and columnist who also founded a consulting agency to help business organizations in developing new products and services and to brainstorm new approaches to working and communications. In his first book, Innervation: Redesign Yourself for a Smarter Future, Browning discusses how businesses can rid themselves of old and outdated approaches to business, initiate forward thinking, and hone creativity. Writing in the Library Journal, Audrey Snowden commented that the author presents his case by "arguing that one must root out antediluvian concepts of how business works to position oneself for success." Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade: How to Survive Life's Smaller Challenges is a collection of Browning's columns and essays for newspapers—as well as some extra essays for the American edition of his book—in which he takes a humorous approach to discussing a wide range of topics, from relationships between men and women to sports and exercise to politics and religion. A Publishers Weekly contributor noted that the book is "full of short takes with a great deal of no-nonsense (well, maybe a little nonsense) charm." Deborah Bingelow, writing in the Library Journal, called Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade a "laugh-out-loud … collection."
