SIDELIGHTS: Roger Y. Clark told CA: "In criticism or fiction I write to explore the idiosyncratic cultural complexity of the postcolonial, postmodern individual. I watch with horror what certain forms of greed and fanaticism do to our world, and I see if something of beauty, humor, even spirituality can be saved from the general mess. I think a tragic vision is a realistic one, yet wisdom urges us to strive toward the ideal. In my upcoming fiction and poetry I hope to infuse the darkness of realism with the regenerative power of humor and idealism."
