SIDELIGHTS:

Peggy Darty has written numerous novels, novellas, and articles. Among her books is a series of cozy mysteries that take place in a seaside community in Florida. When Bobbie Sang the Blues is the second book in the series and was called "a warm, fun-filled read perfect for an afternoon in the hammock with a glass of lemonade," by Novel Reviews Web site contributor Ane Mulligan. The story revolves around mystery writer Christy Castleman's Aunt Bobbie. When Bobbie arrives in Summer Breeze, Florida, she quickly becomes a noted town character as she drives around in her old red truck looking for items to find and restore for her store. However, when Bobbie's ex-husband is found dead in her pickle barrel, Aunt Bobbie becomes the prime suspect in his murder. Used to dealing with fictional mysteries, Christy deals with a real-life mystery as she sets out to prove her aunt's innocence. "The imagery and dialogue used in this novel is fresh and fun," wrote Lacy Williams on the Armchair Interviews Web site. Williams went on to note: "Although the suspense in this book will keep you on your toes, Darty's masterful use of words and plot creates a light touch that doesn't scare."
