SIDELIGHTS:
Desiree Day is the author of several romance novels, including Crazy Love, which features Tameeka Johnson and Stacie Long, two women looking for romance. Booklist reviewer Lillian Lewis wrote that these friends "are forced to deal with their insecurities and secrets in this funny and scandalous story about love." Tameeka is a full-figured woman who owns a wellness shop called Heaven on Earth. She and her romantic interest, Tyrell, convince Stacie, who is bent on finding a wealthy man, to go on a blind date with Jackson, a single father. While they at first seem not to be compatible, things soon change and a relationship begins.
Cruising is about four friends from Atlanta with very different lives. Lauren is married, manages a household, and is president of a Fortune 500 public relations firm. LaShawn has been celibate for five years, but she is engaged to a man who does not want to wait. Blair learns that her husband has been wandering, and Madison, who is single and happy, learns the truth about her father. When the friends go on a Caribbean cruise, they confide in each other and have the chance to reexamine and make changes to their lives. A Publishers Weekly reviewer called Cruising "African-American women's fiction with a light touch."
