SIDELIGHTS:
Candy Halliday is the author of a number of popular romance novels, including Mr. Destiny, Dream Guy, and Your Bed or Mine? In Mr. Destiny, a New York City policeman courts a Manhattan gallery manager whose marriage is only weeks away. When mounted patrol officer Tony Petrocelli spies Kate Anderson standing next to a painting of the Madonna, he recalls his grandmother's prediction from twenty years earlier: He would meet his future bride in Central Park near a picture of the Virgin Mary. As Tony pursues Kate, she begins having second thoughts about her snobbish fiancé, Harold. "Halliday's delightfully humorous tale provides a welcome holiday from the stresses of everyday life," noted Diana Tixier Herald in Booklist.
Lovelorn video game designer Annie Long creates the perfect man in Dream Guy, "an engagingly sexy romance," observed Herald in another Booklist review. After her game becomes a big hit, Annie finds herself torn between Rico, the gorgeous model who portrays "Joe Video," and Matt Abbington, her demanding and jealous boss. According to Monica Poling, reviewing the work on OnceWritten.com, the author "does a credible job of building tension, both professional and romantic," between Matt and Annie.
Your Bed or Mine?, the first work in Halliday's "Housewives Fantasy Club" series, introduces the women of Woodberry Park. The novel focuses on Rick and Zada Clark, a fiery, mismatched couple who are given ninety days to resolve the property dispute that is holding up their divorce settlement. "Halliday provides a fresh, if not particularly complicated, romance," noted a reviewer in Publishers Weekly.
