SIDELIGHTS:

Scott Haltzman, a graduate of Brown University and Brown Medical School, is a board certified psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. His primary area of interest is marriage, and the behaviors that contribute to make a marriage succeed or fail, particularly from the male point of view. In an attempt to help men have happier, more successful marriages, Haltzman offers advice as a regular contributor to Savvy Male.com, and through his own Web site, Secrets of Married Men.com, and has written a book on the subject,The Secrets of Happily Married Men: Eight Ways to Win Your Wife's Heart Forever. Among other pieces of advice, he encourages men to realize that women look at marriage differently, and that it is important to continue to make their spouse feel special and loved. Haltzman notes that there are courses couples can take prior to getting married that will help them learn what to expect, and that research indicates such preparation can help make a marriage last. Deborah Bigelow, in a review for Library Journal, noted that "Haltzman writes guy to guy, with anecdotes and humor." A contributor for Publishers Weekly remarked that Haltzman's advice "will no doubt prove helpful to many men struggling to build a happy marriage."
