SIDELIGHTS:

Cynthia Langston, the founder and owner of Consumer Dig, a market research company that serves clients across the United States, published her debut novel, Bicoastal Babe, in 2006. Asked to describe her inspiration for the work, Langston, a former film critic and freelance writer, told a contributor for the Chick Lit Review Web site: "I thought it would be fun to write a story about a girl who lives and works bi-coastally, juggling two lives and the dramatically different cultures and lifestyles of two exciting cities: New York and Los Angeles."

Bicoastal Babe concerns Lindsay Miller, a single, unemployed young woman who unexpectedly lands a job reporting on trends in fashion, entertainment, and cosmetics for a hip Chicago advertising agency. Lindsay soon finds herself jetting between Manhattan and Los Angeles, but her life grows increasingly complicated as she fends off challenges from a conniving coworker and juggles relationships with a pair of eligible bachelors: Wall Street broker Victor Ragsdale and surfer Danny Wynn. Romantic Times Online critic Stephanie Schneider stated that Bicoastal Babe "has a cute premise, and Lindsay is likeable, if a little indecisive." According to Aleksandra Kostovski, reviewing the novel in Booklist, Langston "has a knack for storytelling that will draw in and please readers."
