SIDELIGHTS:

Myron Lewis told CA: "To understand more effectively the nature of healthy relationships and to become a better partner, I began researching the subjects of marriage, love, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, decision making, conflict management, teamwork, goal setting, and many others. After completing my master's degree in clinical social work, I worked as a counselor and continued teaching a couple's communication course that I developed while in graduate school.

"Over the years, couples continued to rave about the value of my course and encouraged me to put it in writing. This led me to write Making Right Turns in Your Relationship. It is based, not only on my couple's communication course, but also my experiences as a counselor, teacher, spouse, and father.

"I believe that in building a successful long-term relationship there are right turns and there are wrong turns. I also believe that we are all doing the best we can with the knowledge and skills we have. Therefore, my passion for writing is to increase the knowledge and skill level of individuals and couples so that they can make more right turns in their relationships. By accomplishing this, the gap between what we desire in our relationship and what we experience is bridged. I cannot think of a more exciting topic to write about.

"I do not consider myself an exceptionally gifted writer, but my use of personal experiences seems to present a humanistic style that is easily understood and acted upon by the reader. For this I am grateful, and I hope that the information I am able to present positively influences the lives of others, so that they can enjoy healthy, long-term relationships."
