SIDELIGHTS:
Raquel Martin told CA: "In 1970 after the birth of my second child, a blood clot in my brain resulted in temporary paralysis of my left side, causing other health problems. Ten years of ineffective treatments and medications only masked the root of my illness and complicated it with further side effects. In desperation, I began to investigate alternative approaches for my back pain and joint pain. I made notes about the beneficial treatments that worked for me, and they were eventually incorporated into my first book, Today's Health Alternative.
"At first I had not intended to write a book. I was just writing notes for my own use. I wanted the information to be available when I needed it. But when I learned how powerful nutritional, hormonal, and neurological rebalancing was in maintaining health, I began documenting wholistic remedies that truly heal and have been used successfully for decades. I started creating a table of contents, and slowly my desire to share what I found became my focus. When I found that these three distinctive natural approaches can work synergistically in promoting overall homeostasis, increased energy, and vitality, especially as I got older, my research and writing became my passion.
"The most surprising thing I've discovered as a writer is the power of the written word. This, along with well-documented material and a comprehensive index, is a powerful tool for the reader to immediately put to use—empowering, self-help information. The power of the written word can be a constant reminder of how respecting and caring for the body is essential, not necessarily for only the body's sake, but so that the soul in a sound body can act with good judgment. As a writer, I do what some writers have to do—read and re-read and re-edit the work. Fortunately, in my case, I lived what I wrote, and put what I learned from research and my own experience to active use.
Preventing and Reversing Arthritis Naturally: The Untold Story is my favorite of my books because it explains how to encourage nutritional, hormonal and neurological balance in order to combat diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, allergies, and heart disease as well as other degenerative diseases. The book is unique because it addresses controversial issues relating to iatrogenic disorders, and undetected nerve impingements, which are also found to be major contributors to the disease processes.
"My greatest desire is to open the reader's mind to the appalling consequences of misdiagnosis and mistreatment of hormone imbalance. My hope is that the information in my books can help others as it has helped me."
