SIDELIGHTS: Sharon Swan told CA: "I credit my mother, who read to me regularly, with prompting an early and lasting affection for the written word. To me, books have always held a magic all their own. Still I never considered a writing career for myself until I moved from Chicago to the Phoenix, Arizona, area and met Pierce Brosnan, the actor, at a local shopping mall. It was a chance meeting that changed my life, because I found myself thinking 'What if?' What if two fictional characters had met in the same way? That formed the basis for my first story, 'Daring Dreams,' which in turn soon led to a cheerful addiction to writing contemporary romance and playing 'What if?'
"Some of my personal heroes in the writing profession are Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I chose the romance genre for my own focus as an author because I truly believe in the power of love. I read about it, write about it, and can't help but be thrilled every time I see it triumph in real life."
