Wai Ching Angela Wong told CA: "I have been nurtured by the Asian ecumenical movement, first by the World Student Christian Federation and then the Asian theological movement. Prompted by my concern for justice and peace, I have developed strong interests integrating feminism and theology in pursuit of gender equality in the Christian church. I thus enrolled in the Department of Practical Theology at the Divinity School of the University of Chicago, focusing specifically on feminist theologies and the Asian process of contextualization. Since then I have written mainly in respect to feminism, theology, and Asian identities. Recently my interests expanded to the area of post-colonial studies, and I ventured into projects on reinterpretation of the history of Chinese Christian women in early Hong Kong, situated between the cultures of East and West."
