SIDELIGHTS: Robert Lee Wyatt III once told CA: "I write for self-fulfillment. I love to tell stories, and writing preserves the stories. My primary influences are my family and my students' lives. I do occasionally pick up the shred of a story from a news article, which I file for future reference.
"I write on things I know about. I think that is the secret. I do research for accuracy, but I know my subject before I begin to write. Taking bare facts and then weaving around them is good writing. I like to read it, so that is how I like to write."
