Alport's syndrome

Alport's syndrome (awl-ports) n. a hereditary disease that causes nephritis accompanied by deafness. Affected males usually develop end-stage renal failure and, unless treated with a kidney transplant, die before the age of 40. Females have a better prognosis.[ A. C.
