hygroma (hydroma) (hy-groh-mă) n. a type of cyst, which may develop from the liquified remains of a subdural haematoma (subdural h.). cystic h. a collection of fluid behind the neck of a fetus, which may be a diagnostic feature of a chromosomal abnormality. See also nuchal (translucency scanning).
