Sidelights

Katy Bratun told Something about the Author: "I began to draw as soon as I could hold a crayon. I drew raindrops with parachutes, dancing sandwiches, and birds, bears, and fish in jackets and hats. My grownup subject matter hasn't changedI am thrilled to say I now keep good company with my characters by illustrating children's picture books.

" Gingerbread Mouse, the first book I have also written, is my favorite accomplishment. I have also illustrated greeting cards, drawing books, puzzles, posters, game boards, art activities, stickers, and museum banners.

"I visit schools and libraries as a speaker, with hands-on art projects for the kids. I love spending time with the kids and teachers, talking about good books and their creation, then returning to my studio where a fresh piece of watercolor is always waiting."
