edition of Sir Alfred Tennyson's poem The Lady of Shalott. Côté has also been nominated twice for Canada's Governor General's Award in illustration, once for her work for Rémi Savard's Le premier printemps du monde and a second time for the art she created for La grande aventure d'un petit mouton noir, a book by Marie-Danielle Croteau that has also been published in an English-language edition as The Amazing Story of the Little Black Sheep. In addition to illustrating children's books, Côté has also created editorial illustrations for the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
Côté artwork has been recognized for its elegant simplicity. For instance, in her self-illustrated title With You Always, Little Monday—a story about a little bunny who goes on a quest to find his parents—a Kirkus Reviews contributor summarized the book's mixed-media illustrations as "a wonder" and added that Côté's work, while "deceptively simple on its surface, … is expression-filled and elegant in light and line." Côté's use of color has also been considered one of her strengths as an artist. As a reviewer noted in Publishers Weekly, her illustrations for With You Always, Little Monday are "lyrical and expressive" and despite the limited use of color, she successfully evokes "the cozy greenness of the forest and the icy blue glow of moonlight."
