Sidelights
In The Miracle of St. Anthony: A Season with Coach Bob Hurley and Basketball's Most Improbable Dynasty sports journalist Adrian Wojnarowski describes a year in the history of one of the top U.S. high school basketball teams. Leading the small New Jersey Catholic school to twenty-two state championships in his three decades as the school's coach, Bob Hurley is depicted as an inspiring presence, despite the challenges that face each new roster of students. The most fascinating part of Wojnarowski's chronicle of the school's 2003-04 season is that St. Anthony is not a well-funded private school; Hurley and his student players managed to achieve success—including two USA Today national titles and an overall win record of eight to one—with a student body of less than three hundred students and no court of their own. In Booklist, Wes Lukowsky praised Wojnarowski's work in The Miracle of St. Anthony as an "inspiring account of good people making a difference one step at a time."
