north-east African highland-and-steppe floral region Part of R. Good's (1974, The Geography of the Flowering Plants) African subkingdom, within his Palaeotropical floral kingdom. It contains about 50 endemic (see endemism) genera, although the island of Socotra accounts for nearly half of these despite the fact that it is not notably isolated.
