Bötticher, Karl Gottlieb Wilhelm
Bötticher, Karl Gottlieb Wilhelm (1806–89). German architect and scholar. His Holzarchitektur des Mittelalters (1835–40) was an important early study of timber-framed medieval buildings, while his Der Tektonic der Hellenen (1844–52, and 1869) was of considerable significance in the understanding of Greek architecture and construction, and indeed he attempted to explain it entirely in structural terms.
