Predock, Antoine (1936– ). American architect. His work has strong references to the vernacular architecture of the South-Western USA, often possesses powerful geometries, and responds to local conditions. He has also been very concerned about sustainability, ecology, and the environment. Among his works may be cited the Nelson Fine Arts Center, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ (1986–9), the Library and Museum, Las Vegas, NV (1987–90), Zuber House, Phoenix, AZ (1986–9), the Hotel Santa Fé, Euro Disney, Marne-la-Vallée, France (1990–2); the Civic Arts Plaza, Laramie, WY (1989–94), the American Heritage Center, also in Laramie (1987–93—a monumental mound-like structure), the Civic Arts Plaza, Thousand Oaks, CA (1989–94), and the Ventata Vista Elementary School, Tucson, AZ (1992–4). His architecture has a wide range of expression, and has a powerful symbolic content unusual in late-C20 work.
