Riddle, Theodate Pope
Riddle, Theodate Pope (1868–1946). One of the first (and most distinguished) female architects to practise in the USA. She used materials with great intelligence, and her work included housing and educational establishments. Her finest work was the Avon Old Farms School, Avon, CT (1920–9), which drew on English vernacular prototypes, synthesized with considerable panache.
