Todt, Fritz (1891–1942). German engineer. He became under the Nazis in 1933 director of the construction of Autobahnen (motorways), and appointed Seifert as landscape-architect. Not a few motorway viaducts carrying the system are Sublime constructions, some by Bonatz. In 1938 he acquired control at all waterways, power-plants, military installations, and many other aspects of construction-works and production in the Reich, so by 1940, when he was appointed Minister of Armaments, he had enormous influence. After he was killed in an air-crash he was succeeded by Albert Speer.
