AAJA/CNN Scholar Program (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to students majoring in broadcast or online journalism. Focus: Journalism; Broadcasting. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduating high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time with at least 12 credit units for each semester; must be currently taking or planning to take journalism courses. Criteria: Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement; demonstrated journalistic ability; financial need; commitment to the field of journalism.

Funds Avail.: $25,000. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Applicants must submit the completed application form; a resume; an official transcript; two letters of recommendation; a short essay, not exceeding 500 words, on the topic: “Describe any involvement or interest that you have in the Asian American community. If you were awarded an AAJA scholarship, propose how you would contribute to the field of journalism and/or media issues involving the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.” Deadline: March 28. Criteria: Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement; demonstrated journalistic ability; financial need; commitment to the field of journalism.

This scholarship will also focus on underserved AAPI communities, e.g. Southeast Asians, South Asians and Pacific Islanders.
