Delores A. Auzenne Fellowship (Postgraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To encourage minority students to pursue graduate degree in areas where they are historically underrepre-sented at Florida Atlantic University. Focus: Engineering; mathematics and mathematical sciences; Computer and information science; Psychology. Qualif.: Applicants must be pursuing graduate degrees in a discipline in which minority students are underrepresented; must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a transcript from all institutions attended; one-two page statement on how fellowship will assist in the achievement of their career goals and three current letters of recommendation from which one must come from a professor who is familiar with their academic work. Deadline: May 11.
The Robert A Catlin/David W. Long Memorial Scholarship (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To foster increased interest among African-American undergraduates in urban planning as a graduate field of study and as a professional career. Focus: Environmental science. Qualif.: Applicants must be African-Americans who are entering juniors or seniors; must be majoring in urban planning or related fields; must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and must be full-time enrolled students. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $2,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, one sealed official academic transcript for each college or university attended and a self-addressed, stamped postcard for notification of the receipt of a complete application form. Deadline: October 30.
Florida Atlantic Planning Society Graduate Fellowships for Academic Excellence (Postgraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance in the form of a fellowship to outstanding graduate students. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be degree-seeking students with a minimum GPA of 3.5; must have completed a minimum of one semester in a FAU graduate program. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from FAU Faculty, unofficial transcript of all graduate works attempted by the nominee and application form. Deadline: May 11.
Royal Palm Audobon Society Environmental Fellowships (Postgraduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide funds to graduate students preparing for a career in the promotion of environmentalism, environmental preservation or environmental protection. Focus: Environmental science. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduate students conducting research towards increasing public understanding of environmental problems and solutions. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic performance and financial need.
Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicant must submit a one-two page description of academic background, interest and research project and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who is familiar with the student and his or her research. Deadline: April 27.
