Description:

Independent interdenominational, 4-year, coed. Awards bachelor's degrees. Founded 1829. Setting: 62-acre small town campus with easy access to St. Louis. Endowment: $116 million. Total enrollment: 1,037. Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $25. Comprehensive fee: $20,800 includes full-time tuition ($14,600) and college room and board ($6200). Part-time tuition: $610 per credit hour.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 50 open to all; local fraternities, local sororities; 30% of eligible men and 30% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Student Activity Board, Forum, Homecoming Committee, literary societies, B.A.S.I.C. (Brothers and Sisters in Christ). Major annual events: homecoming, Night of a Thousand Stars, All-College Christmas Dinner. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling. Community Environment:

Jacksonville, population 20,553, is located in the west-central part of Illinois. It is the home of the only ferris wheel factory in the United States. Within the community are a library, many churches, hospitals, movie theaters, golf courses, and lakes for boating and fishing. Part-time jobs are available.
