Allied Health Care Professional Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To increase the number of nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified nurse midwives practicing in areas of Illinois. To provide financial support to a qualified allied health care professional students. Focus: Allied health. Qualif.: Applicant must be nurse practitioner, physician assistant or certified nurse midwife student must be accepted or enrolled in a school located in Illinois and accredited in its field; must be fulltime or part-time students, although part-time students must be enrolled for at least one-third of the number of hours required per term by the school for its full-time students; must demonstrate financial need and must apply to their school’s financial aid department on or before the school’s designated application deadline date. Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrated: (1) Previous experience with medically underserved populations; (2) Greatest financial need; and (3) Academic capabilities.
Funds Avail.: $7,500. To Apply: Applicant must complete the application forms available online; must have the financial aid award information; must have the proof of enrollment or letter of acceptance into the program. Deadline: June 30.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial support to deserving individuals who have outstanding academic achievements. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S citizen or an eligible non-citizen; must be an Illinois resident; must be an Illinois high school graduate; must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment on a full-time basis, as an undergraduate student at a U.S Department of Education-approved college in the United States. Criteria: Selection of awardees within each Illinois geographic district will be based on their academic performance data reported by the high school at the end of the third semester prior to graduation and by the ACT, SAT, or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores reported by the end of the third semester before high school graduation.
Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicant must complete the eligibility certification form and must be sent to ISAC, 775 Lake Cook Rd., Deerfield, IL 60015-5209. Deadline: July 15.
Illinois Future Teacher Corps Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial support to deserving individuals intending to pursue their careers as teachers. Focus:
Teaching. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S citizen or an eligible non-citizen; must be a resident of Illinois; must be a high school graduate or person who has received a General Education Development certificate; must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment as a junior or above, on at least a half-time basis in a Teacher Education Program at an eligible Illinois public or private college, seeking initial teacher certification; must be pursuing additional course-work needed to gain Illinois State Board of Education approval to teach, including alternative teacher certification; must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the college. Criteria: Selection will be based on academic performance and eligibility requirements. Priority is given to individuals intending to pursue a teacher shortage discipline and/or making a commitment to teach at a hard-to-staff school and minority students.
Funds Avail.: $5,000 or $10,000 depending on the teaching commitment made. To Apply: Applicant must complete the application for Teacher Education Scholarship Programs; must sign the application’s Teaching Agreement/Promissory Note promising to fulfill the teaching commitment or repay funds received, plus interest. Deadline: March 1.
Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide support to deserving individuals intending to pursue their career in special education programs. Focus: Special education. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen; must be an Illinois resident; must have graduated from an approved high school in the academic year in the upper half of their graduating class according to performance-based academic data provided by the high school; or graduated from an approved high school prior to the academic year in which the award is made, and must hold a valid teaching certificate that is not in the discipline of special education; must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, at one of the eligible public four-year colleges in Illinois as an undergraduate or graduate student seeking initial certification in any area of special education; must be enrolled in a program of special education within ten days after the beginning of the term for which the waiver was initially awarded; must comply with federal Selective Service registration requirements. Criteria: Candidates will be selected based on their academic standing and eligibility requirements.

Illinois Student Assistance Commission Medical Student Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To financially support the qualified medical students. Focus: Osteopathic medicine, Medical technology. Qualif.: Applicant must be an approved allopathic or osteopathic medical school in Illinois; must agree to work in an identified physician-shortage area in Illinois; must be an Illinois resident; must demonstrate financial need, and be committed to primary care; must be a student waiting for confirmation of acceptance to medical school. Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate: (1) A commitment to primary health care; (2) Financial need; and (3) Prior experience with populations whose health care needs are underserved.
Funds Avail.: $950. To Apply: Applicant must complete the application form available online; must provide a autobiographical profile; must have one of the following: (1) For students entering medical school for the first year-a copy of AMCAS application or AACOMAS applicant profile; (2) For all other medical students-a transcript or verification from the college of the GPA or academic standing. Deadline: May 15.
Illinois Student Assistance Commission Merit Recognition Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial support to qualified individuals intending to pursue their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S citizen or an eligible non-citizen; must be a resident of Illinois; must be in the top five percent of their high school class; must take the ACT, SAT or Prairie State Achievement Exam; must attend an approved, Illinois postsecondary institution as an undergraduate on at least a half-time basis, or attend one of the nation’s four approved Military Science Academies; must comply with federal Selective Service registration requirements. Criteria: Applicant will be selected based on the eligibility requirements.

Illinois Student Assistance Commission Nurse Educator Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial support to a qualified individual intending to pursue a career in professional or practical nursing education in Illinois. Focus: Practical nursing. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S citizen or an eligible non-citizen; must be an Illinois resident; must be a recipient of at least a bachelor’s degree; must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, on at least a half-time basis in an approved program of practical nursing education at the graduate level at an eligible Illinois college; must have a satisfactory academic progress as determined by the college; must comply with federal Selective Service registration requirements. Criteria: Selection of candidates will be based on the following criteria: (1) Cumulative GPA (converted to a 4.0 scale) are prioritized from highest to lowest; (2) EFCs are prioritized from lowest to highest; (3) Renewal applicants receive priority consideration provided that they: maintain their qualified applicant status by continuing to meet all criteria listed under the eligibility section that appears earlier on this page, and submit the renewal application on a timely basis. Priority consideration is given to the qualified applicant who submits a complete application on the earliest date.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified individuals pursuing an associate degree in nursing, an associate degree in applied sciences in nursing, a hospital based diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, a graduate degree in nursing or a certificate in practical
nursing. Focus: Nursing. Qualif.: Applicant must be a resident of Illinois for at least one year prior to application, and be a citizen or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States; must be enrolled in or accepted for admission to a nursing program in Illinois that is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation; must be in need of financial assistance based on applicant’s Student Aid Report. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria: (1) Renewal recipients will receive preference; (2) If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of scholarships to be awarded, priority in awarding scholarships will be given to students who: (a) Have the greatest financial need per the Student Aid Report; (b) Are full-time or closest to full-time students; (c) Have the fewest number of credit hours remaining to complete their nursing degree; (c) Already have an associate degree or hospital-based diploma in nursing or a certificate in practical nursing and are pursuing a higher degree; (d) Have the highest cumulative grade point average as documented on an official transcript or other official school form.; (3) When all criteria are equal, a lottery may be used to determine scholarships.
Funds Avail.: $1,603-$5,943. To Apply: Applicant must submit a completed, signed and dated application form prior to the deadline; must have a copy of his/her Illinois registered professional nurse license or Illinois practical nurse license; must include a current copy of an official transcript or other current official school form that indicates a cumulative grade point average; must include a copy of a current Student Aid Report (SAR) that indicates an estimated financial contribution. A current SAR is required, even if you are not eligible for or have not applied for other financial assistance. Deadline: May 31.
Illinois Student Assistance Commission Podiatric Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To increase the number of podiatric physicians practicing in underserved areas of Illinois. Focus: Podiatry. Qualif.: Applicant must be a podiatric medicine student; must be an Illinois resident at the time of application and must be accepted or enrolled in a school located in Illinois and accredited in its field; must demonstrate financial need and must apply to their school’s financial aid department on or before the school’s designated application deadline date. Criteria: Preference will be given to the applicants who demonstrate (1) Previous experience with medically underserved populations; (2) financial need; and (3) commitment to practicing in a designated underserved area of Illinois.
Funds Avail.: Awards provides full tuition, matriculation fees and a living stipend. Purpose: To provide financial support to the qualified individuals intending to pursue their careers as a preschool, elementary or secondary school teacher. Focus: Teaching. Qualif.: Applicant must be a U.S citizen or an eligible noncitizen; must be a resident of Illinois; must be either a
African American/Black, Hispanic American, Asian American or Native American origin; must be a high school graduate, or hold a General Educational Development certificate; must be enrolled at least a hal-time basis as an undergraduate or graduate student; must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a qualified Illinois institutions of higher education in a course of study which, upon completion, qualifies to be certified as a preschool, elementary or secondary school teacher by the Illinois State Board of Education, including alternative teacher certification; must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; must maintain a satisfactory academic progress as determined by the college; must comply with federal Selective Service registration requirements.
